Mackerel is very popular in Japan and is especially healthy, packed with omega-3s, DHA and EPA.
This pan-fried Japanese horse mackerel (アジの塩焼き) is the simplest and easiest fish recipe. Ready in 15 minutes.
One day, I found frozen Japanese horse mackerel in fish shop in Boston. 👇
These Japanese horse mackerels are already salted, marinated in Shochu(Japanese distilled beverage) and light-dried overnight.
Only I have to do is to fry these fish.
2. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over low heat. Place the Japanese mackerels from skin side. Cook for 7-8 minutes.
3. Flip and cook the flesh side for 5 minutes.
4. Serve and garnish with the lemon. (It's popular to serve with grated radish.)
Mackerels contain high levels of omega-3 fatty acids and are very good source of proteins, Niacin, VitaminB12, and Vitamin D.
You know omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial for cardiovascular health, and the American Heart Association recommends eating at least two servings of fish per week to reduce the risk of death from heart disease and stroke.
I try to eat fish once a day for my health and this recipe is so helpful for me.
Thank you.
